I'm Gorka Di Capitan, a commercial photographer and videographer based in Edinburgh. I started shooting professionally in 2014 after working at HURI, a television production company in Seville. Today I work with restaurants, hotels, brands, artists and productions across Scotland, the UK and Spain.
Some jobs are a single shoot. Others turn into relationships that continue through new menus, seasonal campaigns, events and launches. I care about understanding where the work will be used, how the business operates and what the production actually needs before I pick up the camera.
THE STORY
I picked up my first camera as a kid, and by the age of six I was making my own short films at home, Toy Story style, shooting stop motion with my Hot Wheels cars without knowing that was called stop motion: I just imagined and created. By 2014, after my studies, I was shooting professionally, filming weddings in my spare time while working at HURI, a television production company in Seville.
Moving to Scotland turned a change of life into a full commitment to the craft. Today I work year-round inside some of Edinburgh's most recognisable venues, and my campaigns have carried names like Gessi, Tennent's, Don Algodón and Cruzcampo, alongside music videos, weddings, events and personal brands across the UK and Spain.
A lot of the work is hospitality: monthly content for Jackson The Tailor and Tapas 3, and The Dome since early 2021. Around that come product campaigns, events and music videos. Based in Edinburgh, working between Scotland and Valencia, available worldwide.

THE JOURNEY

WHAT I STAND FOR
A menu image, a campaign frame and an artist portrait do different jobs. I plan the shoot around where the work will actually be used.
In hospitality especially, service does not stop for the camera. I work around kitchens, staff and guests rather than expecting the venue to stop operating for me.
The client should still look like themselves when the job is finished. Direction, lighting and post-production should serve the brand, not overwrite it.
Light, texture, timing and consistency are what make a set of images hold together.

Large productions and independent projects. In this world since 2016, when I was assistant director on La Materialista's Buenísima for VEVO.
Brand activations, after-parties and private celebrations: the Moulin Rouge Musical UK after-party, Gessi events and the Tennent's Calcutta Cup activation.
