MY WORK WITH THE PIPER'S REST

The Piper's Rest sits on Hunter Square, just off the Royal Mile in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town: a proper Scottish pub with live music seven nights a week, a serious selection of malt whiskies, local gins and craft beers, and an atmosphere that is impossible to fake.

I'm Gorka Di Capitan, their photographer and videographer since mid-2026, producing monthly content covering food and menu photography, drinks and cocktails, promotional campaigns and live action content that captures the real energy of the venue on a Friday or Saturday night.

The goal with every shoot is simple: if you've never been to The Piper's Rest, the content should make you feel exactly what it's like to walk through that door. Not a polished version of a pub. The actual pub.

In August 2026 I photographed Let's Ceilidh!, the show 1745 Events run twice daily in the Old Merchants' Hall upstairs from 5 to 29 August: a live band on fiddle, guitar and drums calling the Gay Gordons, Strip the Willow and the Dashing White Sergeant for a room full of people who had never danced a reel in their lives. Shooting an Edinburgh Fringe event is its own discipline, and I wrote about what August really does to a venue in the journal.

Live music seven nights a week and an atmosphere you can't fake: pub photography here means catching the real thing. If your pub has that kind of energy, I want to see it.
