MY WORK WITH KISHAOLIN
Nemoyo is a love song by Kishaolin, and the second video I direct for the artist after Lord Almighty.
The whole piece hangs on one image that could not be filmed: a tank driving through the centre of Edinburgh with the name of the song painted on the hull. Everything around it is real. The tank was built, tracked and lit shot by shot so it sits inside the traffic, the light and the reflections of an ordinary afternoon, from Princes Street to North Bridge.
It ends with a rose in the gun barrel, the old image of a flower against a war machine. That is what the song is about: she is the one who takes him out of the character.
